Notes for FABIUS M. TOOLE:

Fabius Toole served in the Confederate States of America, Georgia 13th Infantry Company G. He enlisted in July 1861 in Griffin Georgia. He died in 1862 at Charlottesville, Virginia University of Virginia Hospital, from Rubeola. His widow, Mary E. Toole applied for his pension.

He married VALARIA ANN O'BANNON⁷ September 21, 1854 in Aiken County, SC⁷, daughter of SAMUEL O'BANNON and REBECCA FRANKLIN. She was born August 17, 1834 in Aiken, Aiken County, SC, and died April 21, 1915 in Aiken County, SC.

1850 Census Barnwell Co. S.C. age 15 with father Anderson.

1860 Census Barnwell Co. S.C. age 25 with wife, Valaria, and 3 children.

1870 Census Richmond Co. GA age 35

1880 Census Burke Co. GA age 42 with wife, 3 children, and sister Phata A. age 24. Not clear if Phata is sister or son from 1st marriage.

Georgia Archives has his pension record and that of his widow Valaria Toole. He applied in Richmond county, GA. Valaria applied in Burke county, GA. In 1861, he joined the CSA SC 14th Inf. Co. H.

He was wounded in the left arm in Chancellorsville, VA on May 3, 1863 and had his arm amputated above the elbow.

His last address was 1317 St. Luke Street, Augusta, GA.

Notes for VALARIA ANN O'BANNON:

Before her death, Valaria, widow of Jasper Toole, lived in Augusta, Georgia. On April 12, 1915, she left Augusta to visit her sister, Farobee Cleckley, in Aiken, SC. She became ill during the visit and died in Aiken on April 21, 1915. Her sister was apparently ill also and died one day before Valaria died.

He married (1) SARAH ELLEN PENNINGTON, daughter of WILLIAM PENNINGTON and SARAH MALONE. She was born March 17, 1840, and died May 22, 1912 in Oakhurst, San Jacinto, TX.. He married (2) LOUISA DURDIN November 1912.

Notes for IRVIN TOOLE:

Irwin Toole enlisted in the Confederate States of America, Georgia 55th infantry Company E, on May 3, 1862 in Colquitt, Georgia under Captain B.R. Kendrick. He was captured at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee in September 1862 (either September 9 or 27 according to different records). He was taken to prison at Camp Douglas, Chicago, ILL were he remained until release on June 15, 1865.

His pension application was filed April 28, 1916 in San Jacinto County, Texas (# 32831). His application states that he moved to Texas in 1872 where he lived for 44 yrs (except 3 yrs). He lived in Statley, San Jacuito County, Texas.
