1.  ANDERSON1 TOOLE was born Abt. 1809 in South Carolina ?.  He married MARY KEY1 Abt. 1831.  She was born Abt. 1812.

 

Notes for ANDERSON TOOLE:

Anderson Toole is shown on the 1850 Census Records for Barnwell County, SC.  He is listed as age 41 with wife Mary and ten children.  An Anderson Toole is listed in the 1860 Miller County Census, but the age is not clear and only the initials of the spouse and children are given and they are not clear .  Not sure if this is the same Anderson Toole.  An Anderson Toole is listed in the  GA salt records as serving in the CSA.

 

Anderson Toole may have descended from Isaac Toole of Barnwell county, SC through one of Isaac's sons.  Anderson's father may have been the son, Ezekiah,  or Luke Toole.  The father of Isaac Toole was Edward Toole, Sr. of Bertie County, NC.

 

In the estate papers of Jacob Bates of Barnwell county, SC dated Nov 3, 1851 is listed the following"

and others.  It is unclear why Anderson Toole had an account with Jacob Bates, but this may eventually help in the search for the father of Anderson Toole.

Fabius Toole served in the Confederate States of America,  Georgia 13th Infantry Company G.  He enlisted in July 1861 in Griffin Georgia.    He died in 1862 at Charlottesville, Virginia University of Virginia Hospital, from Rubeola.  His widow, Mary E. Toole applied for his pension.

On the widow's pension application for Fabius Toole dated October 29, 1912, Mary Toole noted that she had lived in Georgia for 59 years, since 1853.

 

At Cedar Springs Baptist Church in Cedar Springs, GA is the grave of a Mary Toole born Aug 12, 1844 and died Nov 12, 1923.  This may the wife of Fabius Toole.

2.  JASPER R.2 TOOLE (ANDERSON1)6 was born Abt. 1834 in SC, and died February 07, 1899 in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.  He married VALARIA ANN O'BANNON7 September 21, 1854 in Aiken County, SC7, daughter of SAMUEL O'BANNON and REBECCA FRANKLIN.  She was born August 17, 1834 in Aiken, Aiken County, SC, and died April 21, 1915 in Aiken County, SC.

1860 Census Barnwell Co. S.C. age 25 with wife, Valaria, and 3 children.

1870 Census Richmond Co. GA age 35

1880 Census Burke Co. GA age 42 with wife, Vilora (sp) age 40, Elbert (sp) age 21, Ida (daughter) age 1, Samuel age 20,   and sister Phata A. age 24 (born GA) and William Oates (boarder) age 18.

Georgia Archives has his pension record and that of his widow Valaria Toole.  He applied in Richmond county, GA.  Valaria applied in Burke county, GA.  In August 1861, at the age of 27,  he joined the  CSA SC 14th Inf. Co. H.  His muster call was at Camp Butler on Sept 10, 1861.

While serving in the Second Corp of General Stonewall Jackson, he was wounded in the left arm in Chancellorsville, VA  on May 3, 1863 and had his arm amputated above the elbow.

His last address was 1317 St. Luke Street, Augusta, GA.

Notes for VALARIA ANN O'BANNON:

Before her death, Valaria, widow of Jasper Toole, lived in Augusta, Georgia.  On April 12, 1915, she left Augusta to visit her sister, Farobee Cleckley, in Aiken, SC.  She became ill during the visit and died in Aiken on April 21, 1915.  Her sister was apparently ill also and died one day before Valaria died.

3.  IRVIN2 TOOLE (ANDERSON1)8,9 was born September 06, 1841 in SC, and died October 27, 1917 in Oakhurst, San Jacinto, TX..  He married (1) SARAH ELLEN PENNINGTON 1867 in Colquitt, Miller County, GA, daughter of WILLIAM PENNINGTON and SARAH MALONE.  She was born March 18, 1840 in GA, and died May 22, 1912 in Oakhurst, San Jacinto, TX..  He married (2) LOUISA ADLA DURDIN November 1912.  She was born 1850 in AL, and died 1934.

 

Notes for IRVIN TOOLE:

Irwin Toole enlisted in the Confederate States of America, Georgia 55th infantry Company E,  on May 3, 1862 in Colquitt, Georgia under Captain B.R. Kendrick.  He was captured at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee in September 1862 (either September 9 or 27 according to different records).  He was taken to prison at Camp Douglas, Chicago, ILL were he remained until release on June 15, 1865.

His pention application was filed April 28, 1916 in San Jacinto County, Texas (# 32831).   His application states that he moved to Texas in 1872 where he lived for 44 yrs (except 3 yrs).  He lived in Statley, San Jacuito County,  Texas.

Toole, Willie and Cora did not have any children.   A Emma Mae Martin Beck Toole born June 15, 1900 died March 26, 1966 in Stiefeltown, SC.  According to the funeral home records she  was married to  Willie Webster Toole.   She is buried in Warrenville Cemetery.  She was the third wife.

Interment Orders show that he lived in Graniteville, SC for four years before his death.  He previously lived in Augusta, Ga.  He was a widower at the time of his death.  According to Samuel S. Toole, Sr. , he lived with Fabius Toole in Graniteville, SC before his death.

 

In the 1925 Augusta City Directory by R.L. Polk & Company Publishing, Samuel S. Toole is listed as a carpenter living at 1814 Hicks Street.  He is not listed in the 1930 Augusta City Directory.
